About the Artist
Meet Sophie McPike, an illustrator and painter whose work explores personal and imagined worlds through colour, form, and narrative imagery. Her practice is grounded in experimentation, play, and physical engagement with materials. She works in a painterly, expressive way, often beginning with energetic mark-making before refining and shaping her compositions.
Sophie frequently starts in her sketchbooks, using drawing and painting to explore ideas, test colour, and respond to instinctive marks. As a neurodivergent artist, image-making is a direct and essential form of communication, guiding her interest in how visual art can express internal experiences and create connection.
Her work combines reflective themes with bold colour, texture, and expressive energy.
